Dear participants of the Re-Exam,

here are the final instructions for the re-exam on 26.09.2025:
- Read the following carefully !
- The duration of the exam is 150 minutes. (+30 min. to compensate for the time shortage of the main exam)
- Find your lecture hall and seating row in the pdf "lecture hall and seating row.pdf" (CMS->Materials->Exam).
- The exam is open book, which means that you may bring and use any (non-digital) material. You are not allowed to use any digital device or material. Your mobile phones, smart watches and the like must be switched off. Any attempt to cheat will result in the grade "failed" (5.0). This already includes the possession of forbidden material.

Required items:
- Student ID card.
- Non-erasable pen.
- Extra sheets of paper to make notes (to be submitted after the exam!).

Admitted items:
- Something to drink.
- Printed course material and handwritten notes.

We will ask you to enter the lecture hall (around 9.15 o'clock):
- Place your bag and any other material that is not admitted at the walls of the lecture hall.
- Find your exam using the seating plan (Name and ID is already printed on the exam).  (Do not open the exam sheet, but SIGN THE FIRST PAGE !)
- Put your material on the desk. At all times, all material must be on the desk (not on neighboring chairs or below the desk !)
- Put your Student-ID card in front of you on the desk. (We check during the exam.)
- It is forbidden to copy the exam questions !

When all students are placed, we provide some additional instructions and officially start the exam.

During the exam,
- stay at your seat and focus on solving the exam questions.
- Raise your hand, if you have a question.
- Raise your hand, if you need to go to the restroom. (We have to note the timing.)

After the time of the exam has passed,
- stay at your seat until we have collected all exams and notes that you have written during the exam.
- We count the number of exams and then the exam is over and you can leave.

The exam inspection is fixed to 07.08.2025 from 10.00 to 12.00 o'clock in lecture hall HS001 in E1.3 with the following order of your family name:

10.00 - 10.15: A - B

10.15 - 10.30: C - F

10.30 - 10.45: G - J

10.45 - 11.00: K - L

11.00 - 11.15: M - N

11.15 - 11.30: P - R

11.30 - 11.45: S

11.45 - 12.00: T - Z

 

There will be no sample solutions for the exam inspection and you are not allowed to bring, take or copy anything during the inspection. The purpose of the exam inspection is to validate the correction and evaluation. Each group is scheduled for 15 minutes, which should be enough. In order to be fair to everyone, please stick to your time slot.

Please understand that we cannot offer alternative dates or time slots.

Dear students,

we have now uploaded the scores of the main exam. Find a table showing the translation of scores to grades under materials.

The final grades for the course, which will be influenced by the results of the challenge report, will be uploaded on LSF later.

Due to the challenging time constraints during the exam, we reduced the maximal score to 65 points (as in the mock exam). The passing threshold is at 32 points, which is 50% of 65 points. This leads to a passing percentage of 53.7% among the students who correctly solved Problem 1 (a) and (b), which only required elementary knowledge of the prerequisites of the course (and no special ML skills). Among all participants, the passing percentage is 19.2%.

The date for the exam inspection is next week on Thursday. The room an precise timing will be given in the beginning of next week.

- Read the following carefully !
- Students with family name starting with A -- G must wait in front of lecture hall HS002 in E1.3 at 9.15 o'clock.
- Students with family name starting with H -- Z must wait in front of Guenter--Hotz lecture hall E2.2 at 9.15 o'clock.
