This is the home stretch, and it's where everything you've built this semester really comes together. During this phase, your focus is on two things: finalizing your software prototype and preparing your presentation materials - namely a poster, a video, and an interactive demo. All the details, requirements, and formatting guidelines can be found on the seminar website and in the kickoff slides, so please take a moment to review them carefully.
Evaluation of Demo Documentation - 08.07.2026 A key milestone in this phase is the Evaluation of Demo Documentation on 08.07.2026. Each team will have a 30-minute slot during which we, as instructors, will sit down with your software prototype. For this evaluation, please split your documentation into two parts:
Part A - Running, Using & Calibrating the App. This is the part we'll test live. We'll rely only on the documentation you provide to start, set up, and (where applicable) calibrate the system, along with any in-app tutorial you've built in. In other words, we'll be experiencing your system the way a real first-time user would, so make sure these instructions are clear, complete, and easy to follow.
Part B - Building & Deploying on the Quest 3. This covers everything we'd need to build and deploy the app ourselves: build settings, version numbers, dependencies, which scenes to include, any API keys that need to be set up, and any other special settings we should know about. We won't test this live - we'll just review it quickly - but it should be thorough enough that someone could reproduce your build from scratch. Think of this evaluation as a friendly final check rather than a graded exam. The goal is to catch any rough edges early and give you one more week to polish everything before the final demo session.
Final Demo Session - 15.07.2026 This is the big one! The final demo session will run like a demo session at a scientific conference. We'll take care of printing your posters and have them ready to hang, but we expect your app to be up, running, and ready to go whenever we (or our guests) stop by. Speaking of guests: we'll be inviting other colleagues from the chair to join us, so you can expect to present your demo multiple times over the course of the seminar slot. Be ready to pitch your work, walk visitors through it, and let them try it out - just like you would at a real conference.
One important reminder: Please check all deadlines in the CMS and make sure you adhere to them. All required submissions must be uploaded on time, so review the schedule carefully and plan ahead.
We genuinely can't wait to see what you've created over the course of the semester. You've put in a lot of work, and this is your chance to show it off - so finish strong, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions along the way. Best wishes and good luck André, Felix, Florian & Moiz |

Generally, we endorse this with an important restriction. To be fair to everyone we can only allow (agentic) LLMs that are free to use for everyone through the duration of the semester, e.g. via a student program or because it is free to use anyways. This explicitly excludes Claude Code since for this you will need a paid Pro account. Same for the Unity AI 14 day trial. This is very similar to the rule that you are only allowed to use free assets in the Unity Store, as opposed to spending money on them. Unfortunately, the Git Hub Education package is apparently also not available for new registrants. This means, however, that those of you that have access to that, shall also not use it, since it would be an unfair advantage. Here is the writeup https://cms.sic.saarland/s_ar4sports_26/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2 We acknowledge that these restrictions come more or less in the middle of the semester. If you have already used any of those agentic/paid LLMs, please be transparent about this, it will not be to your disadvantage. Please let us know if you have any questions or comments. Best, |

Seminar: Augmented Reality for Sports
In this practical seminar, small groups of students (4) will develop an Augmented Reality (AR) sports application. These applications will either target athletes or spectators as users and aim to solve a certain problem. Both, targeted sport, stake holder, and problem to be solved will be defined in the first weeks of the seminar within the groups with the assistance of the instructors.
